- Applicant must have adopted a Golden Retriever as an 'Older' rescue dog from
a recognized organization (501(c)3 Rescue or a Humane Society) and must reside
in New York or have adopted from a New York State organization.
- Applicant must demonstrate need for assistance in the face of unusual veterinary
expenses.
- Expenses considered for reimbursement include diagnostic, curative, and palliative
procedures necessary for the dog to maintain quality of life in the face of a
grave illness
- Expenses must be itemized and presented on an invoice of veterinary service;
proof of payment may be required
- Typical care expenses (office exam, innoculation, euthanasia, cremation) are
not considered for reimbursement
- Each application is reviewed by the Directors of The Uncle Sherman Fund, Inc.
and checked for completeness and accuracy. The decision to grant funds is at
the discretion of the Directors and their decision on each application is final
- Each grant of funds is a one-time event.
- Individual grant amounts may vary and typically will not exceed $500.00
- Applicants are not prohibited from applying for and receiving multiple grants
in the case of extreme hardship
